These are the simple rules of torrenting.
Private torrent sites= 1:1 ratio (if you download 700MB, share back 700-1400MB) (Or whatever is specified by the rules of the site).
Public torrent sites= It doesn’t matter, you don’t get credit for it anyways.
Seeding back a torrent you downloaded from a private site is mando. Most private sites will ban you for leeching. With public sites, seeding is an option and it doesn’t have to be done.
As for regulating seed speed, take into consideration your maximum upload speed. Once you have that figured out, only use 1/2 the total of your maximum. So if your max up speed is 80KB (Kilobytes), you will want to seed back at 40KB (Especially if your surfing the web and what not at the same time).
If your not using the comp and it’s just idle, you can max it out with no issues. I provided a link below to the bandwidth speed test website. Before you use it though, make sure all web using progs have been closed or are inactive. They distort your real BW speeds.
