New program unites senior citizens, older pets
The Humane Shelter and Adoption Center of Whitley County is starting a new “Seniors for Seniors” program for people over 60 years of age who would like to adopt an animal who is 5 years-old or over. The fee schedule for our “Seniors for Seniors” program is as follows:
Dogs (5 years old and over)
Adoption fee: $30
(Refundable) Spay/Neuter Deposit: $20
Total: $50
Cats (5 years old and over)
Adoption fee: $25
(Refundable) Spay/Neuter Deposit: $15
Total: $40
After an adopted animal is spayed or neutered, when the owner brings the veterinarian’s receipt for the spay or neuter procedure to the Humane Shelter, the adopter’s Spay/Neuter Deposit is refunded. If at any time the adopter can no longer keep the pet he or she adopted, the shelter will take it back free of charge.
